Visakhapatnam: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will organise the OORJA-CAPF(Central Armed Police Force) Under -19 football talent hunt tournament for under 19 boys and girls in the city from May 1 to 10. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Chairman of the tournament and Inspector General CISF, south sector, Chennai, Anand Mohan, said the tournament is being held prior to the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) World Cup U-17 to be held this year.
A programme named 'Mission XI million" was launched as a school contact initiative which evolved into India's biggest sport activity ever. This mission is to take the game to the hearts and minds of 11 million boys and girls across the country by engaging them, instilling in them interest in the game, spur them into action and develop in them a feeling of competition and camaraderie and realise the dream of young and physically fit, robust and agile new India”, he said.He said CISF was given responsibility to organise the tournament in association with the government authorities, schools and other organisations in Visakhapatnam.
He said in phase one a total of eight boys and eight girls teams will be participating the tournament and a total of 32 matches will be played in the phase one to be held inVisakhapatnam from may 1 to 10.He said the tournament will be conducted in three phase with separate matches for boys and girls. There will be a Selection Committee in each state to select two teams one boys and girls by scrutinising the performance of all the players who have participated in the phase one tournament.
Phase-two of the competition will be organised from June 8 to 25 at six locations the country with 36 teams of boys and girls participating in it. The phase -three tournament will be conducted from July 8 to 25 and six teams of boys and girls from six zones will compete for the Prime Minister's Football Tournament Under-19 National Championship, Anand mohan said.
Tolloywood actor Naani and Olympic gold medalist Karanam Malleswari have been appointed as brand ambassadors for boys and girls respectively.
