Visakhapatnam: Municipal Commissioner M Harinarayanan asked the superintending engineer Rammohan to prepare proposals for implementing Under Ground Drainage (UGD) scheme at Vambay and Madhavadhara Vuda Colonies.
During his field visit to Wards-39 and 40 on Wednesday, Harinarayanan instructed the public health staff to mainly focus on sanitation utilising sanitary staff on ‘pin-point basis’.

When he saw the choked drains in the area, he pulled up the sanitary supervisor Chiranjeevi for not taking steps in clearing the drains from time to time. Later, he warned of severe action if sanitation is neglected in the city and directed AMOH Dr Murali Mohan to see that there should not be any lapses in maintaining sanitation. Assistant director of horticulture department Damodar was asked to nurture the plantations on the central and side medians along the National Highway and also to fill up the gaps.
