Industries Minister N Amarnath Reddy, who accompanied the Cooperative Minister, has unveiled the bronze statue of former Chief Minister N T Rama Rao situated in the premises of the DCCB. Speaking on the occasion, Adinarayana Reddy said that DCCBs are playing a crucial role for the uplift of farmers and strengthening the rural economy.
It may be recalled here that DCCB president A Rajasekhara Reddy had constructed building for bank with an outlay of Rs 3 crore and also installed bronze statue of NT Rama Rao in the bank premises. He tried his best to get the building inaugurated by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for the last 3 years but could not succeed.
The TDP district leaders were against the Chief Minister opening the building as Rajasekhara Reddy happens to be close associate of former Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. In a meeting with managers of the DCCB, the Minister said co-operative institutions should become self-reliant without seeking the financial support or intervention of the state government.
Amarnath Reddy, who served as DCCB president in the past, recalled that most of the farmers in the district used to get crop loans from the DCCB because of its accessibility to them. Andhra Pradesh State Cooperative Bank (APCOB) Chairman P Koteswara Rao has complimented the outstanding performance of the Chittoor DCCB.
Later, Rajasekhara Reddy gave powerpoint presentation about bank’s financial growth. He said that the DCCB has earned profits of Rs 123 crore after overcoming accumulated losses. ZP Chairperson Girvani, MP Dr N Sivaprasad, MLA D A Satyaprabha, Mayor K Hemalatha, TDP district president P Nani and other leaders and officials were present.
