Man accused in wife’s murder arrested
The police on Tuesday arrested a sadist husband in the murder case of his wife. However, his parents who are his accomplices are at large.He was identified as a mason Singuluri Pratap of Jagapati Rajapuram, on the outskirts of Gokivada. He surrendered to the police with the help of Gokivada village revenue officer.

According to Pithapuram CI B Appa Rao, Pratap was married to Pedapati Sandhya (21) of Nagulapalli in 2012 and he used to harrass her eversince their marriage. His behaviour was so atrocious that he once thrashed her to the point of losing consciousness. He then lighted a lamp near her head and spread the word that his wife passed away.
However, his parents came to her rescue and took her away with them and nursed her back to health. After conducting a panchayat, she was sent to him again. However, he did not mend his ways. He used to torture her in every way possible. He never allowed his wife to visit her relatives. His parents Ruth Kumari and Sanjeeva Rao used to support their son in harassing the woman. They, themselves also harassed her many times.
On May 24, Pratap, with the help of his parents allegedly hanged her to death. It was alleged that he hanged her to death when his parents held her hands and legs tight. After confirming that the victim had died, the trio fled the place. The police registered a case. At last, the accused surrendered to the police with the help of VRO while his parents are still at large.
