With the tussle between people of Ramapuram , a nearby village of Tirupati dumping yard 11 KM from here and Tirupati Corporation authorities, garbage clearance has stopped from the across the city by civic body authorities since Wednesday.

With the support of the concerned MLA CheviReddy Bhaskar Reddy (Chandragiri) villagers are not allowing the garbage trucks into the dumping yard for garbage dumping. This has resulted in about 400 hundred tonnes garbage remains uncleared on city roads. Due to interruption of the clearance of the garbage noted that acrid smell spreading from dumper bins to over the streets. Denizens of Tirupati are suffering this inconvenience.

This issue has finally turned into a political high drama of between YSRCP party leaders and TDP leaders of the ChandraGiri segment. In the mean while Tirupati Muncipal Corporation Commissioner Ch Harikiran is trying to sorting out the problem and has discussed with villagers two to three times in last three days.

The villagers have been demanding since long for shifting the yard from this area, it is causing serious pollution and health hazards to the people in villages near the dumping yard. Across city more than 170 trips with 70 trucks and tractors corporation authorities have been shifting the garbage every day to Ramapuram dumping yard. At present total trucks of corporation with fully loaded garbage have been parking at corporation office premises.

When contacted Ramapuram villagers at nearby dumping area on Friday said that they will not allow to maintain a dumping yard and construct Jindal power generation plant from bio waste in 24 acres of barren land here. According to municipal sources when the land survey commenced for Jindal power generation plant, villagers are trying to obstructing the dumping of garbage in dump yard at Ramapuram village.

It may be noted that Corporation officials discussed with Chittoor MP N Sivaprasad and ex minister Galla Arunakumari for smooth solution of this issue. According to sources both TDP leaders assured the villagers on dumping yard problem solution, on this issue they will organise a joint meeting with revenue and corporation officials on June 21.

In this context Chandragiri MLA CheviReddy Bhaskar Reddy speaking to The Hans India said that ‘this is the long pending burning problem of our constituency people of this village, right now we won’t allow dumping of garbage here at any cost. I am fighting on a people’s issue. TDP government is neglecting this problem since long period, the MLA charged.

Commissioner TMC CH HariKiran said that ‘we are going to transport garbage from Friday night with police protection. Corporation will look into the villagers problems, mainly for avoiding of pollution, we are going to take action on improving of pollution preventive measures at Ramapuram Dumping Yard’.
