Guntur: The state government issued GO No 108 on Thursday for filling of 198 assistant professor posts in the government teaching hospitals.

The government has already promoted eligible assistant professors as associated professors. It is not clear whether the posts will be filled through the AP Public Service Commission or the department of medical education. Chief Minister N Chandrababu earlier said that he prefers filling of posts through the APPSC.

After clarifying the issue with the government, the DME will initiates the procedure to fill the posts.Speaking to The Hans India, director of medical education Dr N Subba Rao said, "After getting clarity from the government, we will fill the 198 assistants’ professor posts in the teaching hospitals.

After filling the posts, we will able to render better medical services in the government teaching hospitals. We have given promotions to assistant professors as associate professors in the government medical colleges. Associate professors have been promoted as professors.

We have a proposal to start a medical college attached to the AIIMS in Vijayawada city. After completion of construction AIIMS at Mangalagiri town, the AIIMS college will be shifted to permanent premises at Mangalagiri town.”
