Tirupati: Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha (RSVP) organised Paadapa Parva (plantation of trees) programme on Sunday in which more than 1,200 students including the NSS volunteers of seven units took part. Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof V Muralidhara Sarma said the ecological balance is depends entirely on trees.

Unfortunately, people were cutting down the trees largely for commercial operations and due to expansion of cities. To increase the greenery and maintain eco-balance everyone should plant trees, he said.

Professor J Ramakrishna said that the programme was aptly named as Paadapa Parva. District Collector PS Pradyumna arranged more than 500 plants for the programme. Another contractor and nature lover Vijaya Raghava Reddy contributed Rs.1 lakh worth plants.

Registrar Prof C Uma Sankar, Prof Ch P Satyanarayana, NSS Programme Coordinator Dr Dakshnamurthy Sarma, Dr Medasani Mohan and Dr V Venkata Ramana Reddy participated in the programme.
