Eluru: Police picket continued in Tundurru village of Bhimavaram rural mandal following Thursday’s agitation by villagers of Tundurru, Kamsali Bethapudi and Jonnala Garuvu against setting up of Godavari Aqua Mega Food park.

Police produced 23 agitators who were arrested on Thursday before Narsapur court on Friday morning. The court ordered judicial remand to them for 15 days. They were shifted to Narsapur sub-jail.

Meanwhile, on Friday, police arrested several CPM leaders, including CPM state secretariat member V Umamaheswara Rao and state committee member Ch Babu Rao and another eight people in Bhimavaram during their dharna.

In Narsapuram, police arrested CPM state committee member Mantena Sitaram and local leaders T Satyanarayana, Gubbala Lakshmana Rao and others for protesting in front of police station. However, all of them were let off in the evening. In Eluru, CPM, Congress, CPI, YSRCP, CPI(ML) New Democracy activists took out a rally in protest against the arrests.
