Viswanath, Kiran Kumar conferred with doctorates
Vignan University, on Saturday conferred honorary doctorates on Indian Space Research Organisation chairman Kiran Kumar, Dadasaheb Phalke awardee and veteran film director K Viswanath and ophthalmologist Dr Kalpana Narendran for their outstanding services in their fields during varsity’s fifth convocation, held at Vadlapudi, here on Saturday.
Guntur: Vignan University, on Saturday conferred honorary doctorates on Indian Space Research Organisation chairman Kiran Kumar, Dadasaheb Phalke awardee and veteran film director K Viswanath and ophthalmologist Dr Kalpana Narendran for their outstanding services in their fields during varsity’s fifth convocation, held at Vadlapudi, here on Saturday.
Supreme Court judge justice, Lavu Nageswara Rao, Vignan Education Institutions chairman Lavu Rattaiah presented the honorary doctorates.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest Justice Lavu Nageswara Rao urged students to use their degrees as weapons to solve problems of the people.
ISRO chairman Kiran Kumar called upon the youth to use their extraordinary rare talents for the development of the country. “If we combine our efforts, we can solve any problem and achieve anything. Youth should have target and should work hard to achieve them. We are proud of our development and in the field of space research,” he added.
Dadasaheb Phalke awardee and veteran film director K Viswanath said that varsity chairman Lavu Rattaiah likes Telugu language and culture. He advised the youth to work hard to come up in life.
Ophthalmologist Dr.Kalpana Narendran advised the youth select their field of interest and work hard to be the best in the field.
Later, Justice Lavu Nageswara Rao presented gold medals to 19 students, degrees to 1,114 students.Vice-chancellor MYS Prasad, registrar Dr M.S Raghunathan and other staff were present.
