Tirupati: Two youth were killed in a blast at crackers godown in Tirupati on Sunday night. The godown belongs to Raghu alias Khalnayak. He was making crackers unauthorisedly near cotton mill on Renigunta Road.

Police warned him in the past but he was continuing his work. On Sunday night, the blast occurred at the crackers stock point, where unauthorised making of crackers going on. Four people including one woman were at work. When the lady was going out, she asked the other three to lock the room.

The blast took place when one person went out to switch off the motor and fire spread totally in the godown. The effect of the blast was felt around three kilometres radius.

People were panicked and ran outside of their houses thinking that it was due to earth quake. Two child labourers Mani, 10 and Manju,14 were killed in the incident. The reasons for the blast were not immediately known. Alipiri police CI Sreenivasulu rushed to the spot and investigating the case.
