Visakhapatnam: The government has received information that the students in various educational institutions are consuming drugs and indulging in eve-teasing. The heads of colleges and schools should be more vigilant on the behaviour of students, HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said. He directed the all the head masters and head mistresses to submit a report of their respective schools about the performance and behaviour of the students in the city.
The Minister on Monday visited the GVMC School, Madhuranagar where a Class X student S Chinna died in a clash with Class 8 student of the same school. The Minister directed the head masters not to confine only to teachings and watch the students’ behaviour also. In recent times, the students are bringing mobile phones to the schools.
The teachers should note down the numbers and should watch call data of students. If, any student absents to school, the teachers of concerned class should send a message to parents immediately, the minister directed.
Talking about the Saturday’s incident, the Minister directed the police to take stringent action on the accused after receiving the post-mortem report of Chinna.
The Minister interacted with the victim’s parents’ S Ramu and Satyavathi and expressed his deep condolence over the issue. He assured the parents that he would discuss with the chief minister to help the family. Later, the minister visited the school and checked the facilities and toilets.
Meanwhile, sources said the Class 8 students in the lunch break called up his brother-in-law, who is an intermediate student and informed about Chinna’s harassment. The Class 8 student and his brother-in-law had beaten Chinna, who is going to home for lunch. In the clash Chinna fell on the road and got head injury.
