Eluru: Andhra Pradesh Writers’ Association has requested the State government to fill the Chairman post of the State Grandhalaya Parishad.

Association president Somepalli Venkata Subbayya and general secretary Chalapaka Prakash on Saturday said that the earlier chairman stint elapsed just before the bifurcation of state.

Following the bifurcation, the State Grandhalaya Parishad governing body has not been functioning as no appointments were made to the body. With this, the writers who published various books by spending money and time are not able to send those books to reach of public.

As the Chairman post is vacant, crores of rupees, which must be received from Raja Ramamohan Roy Library Foundation in Kolkata, are freezed. The Association has requested the government to appoint the Chairman post of Grandhalaya Parishad immediately.

It also requested the government to take necessary steps to credit the library cess from the municipal corporations and municipalities to the libraries. Due to arrears, the libraries are not able to purchase books.
