Recently, TTD EO Anil Kumar Singhal, CVSO Ake Ravi Krishna and other state government security and intelligence agencies have audited the security at Tirumala. It was found that existing security is not adequate to spot habitual offenders and movements of suspicious persons as famous pilgrim centres are vulnerable to terrorist attacks.
Highlights:
- TTD to install 24 cameras with facial recognition software at toll gates and four mada streets
- 600 advanced CCTVs, 32 door-frame metal detectors and high-end baggage scanners will be installed soon
- 3-tier security will be ready for the ensuing Brahmotsavams
The TTD authorities will purchase and install high-end security gadgets so that three-tier security will be ready for surveillance in Tirumala for the ensuing Brahmotsavams. The security system will be on the lines of Australia and the USA. The TTD will procure 600 advanced CCTV cameras, 32 door-frame metal detectors and high-end baggage scanners.
For the first time, the TTD will install 24 cameras with facial recognition software at Alipiri and GMC toll gates and at four mada streets. The faces of notorious criminals will be identified by matching with the criminal records available at Alipiri check post.
Even, the TTD security wing is going to collect data of habitual offenders and terrorist groups from national counter terrorist agencies and intelligence departments.Face recognition cameras will detect terrorists and habitual offenders in the first stage.
In the second stage, 30 well-trained security staff will be closely watching the movements of suspicious persons in three shifts and round-the-clock.
Metal door frame detectors at Vaikuntam queue complex is the third stage of three-tier security. Speaking to The Hans India, Ake Ravi Krishna said that the TTD is taking all measures for providing foolproof security. “I have taken inspiration from Srivari Senadhipathi Varu (army chief of the Lord Venkateswara) for strengthening the security of the Tirumala,” he stated.
