Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said that around 13 prestigious private medical institutions are coming up at Amaravati and four of the 10 best medical universities have already been in the process of establishing their campuses. He said the new capital would stand a green field and knowledge city and even Americans would come to Amaravati for the best and cost-effective treatment in future.
Addressing a public meeting in Vijayawada after laying the foundation stone for the construction of Amaravati American Institute of Medical Sciences (AAIMS) through video link on Thursday, the Chief Minister said the AAIMS would be set up with an investment of Rs 600 core at Ibrahimpatnam, on the outskirts of Vijayawada and would provide 700 bed capacity in two phases.
Commending one of the founders of the AAIMS Gorrepati Navaneetha Krishna, Naidu said the Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) were coming back to serve their motherland and establishing prestigious institutions in Amaravati.
“Telugu NRIs felt that the erstwhile AP had been divided irrationally and decided to invest their knowledge and money that earned in foreign countries in their native land,” he said.
“VIT and SRM University have already established their campuses in Amaravati. The BR Shetti Group, Indo-UK Hospitals are in the process of establishing campuses while the Centre had approved the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for the state,” he said.
Reiterating his commitment to provide best medical facilities to all sections of the people, the Chief Minister said his government has been encouraging public-private partnership model to improve medical facilities in government hospitals. “Government is providing free treatment under the NTR Vidya Seva and other schemes, while Arogya Raksha scheme has been announced for the APL families,” he said.
Naidu also suggested to the people to have more children as there was a threat of decreasing the number of youngsters in 20 years. “Rich are not interested in having children. We will face the problem of raising number of aged in two decades as the number of births and deaths are equal in the state,” he said. He also suggested to the youngsters not to be too much addicted to technology as it would harm mental health.Ministers Kamineni Srinivas, Devineni Umamaheshwar Rao and Bhuma Akhila Priya were present.
