Vijayawada Municipal Corporation staff takes up cleaning of bathing Ghats

Vijayawada Municipal Corporation has taken up special sanitation drive near the bathing ghats of Krishna river in view of the Dasara celebrations that began on Thursday. The VMC sanitation staff cleaned Bhavani ghat, Punnami ghat and Krishnaveni ghat and kept it ready for devotees to bath. Thousands of devotees are expected to take a dip in these ghats before visiting Durga temple to mark the Dasara festival. Municipal commissioner J Nivas along with officials of VMC inspected the ghats issued directions to clean the ghats on war footing.

He also inspected the toilets and asked the staff to maintain hygiene, lighting and adequate water for the convenience of devotees, who use the toilets. Similarly, the VMC installed dust bins in many parts of the ghat particularly on Canal road, Mallikarjunan peta, Arjun street, Brahmin street, Main road, Prakasam barrage and other parts. VMC is playing a very important role in maintaining sanitation during the Dasara festival and other occasions.
