Vikas College of Physical Education is all set to conduct South Zone Inter-University Handball Tournament for men from October 21 to 25 and the tournament will start October 21 at Nunna village which is near Vijayawada.

Vijayawada: Vikas College of Physical Education is all set to conduct South Zone Inter-University Handball Tournament for men from October 21 to 25 and the tournament will start October 21 at Nunna village which is near Vijayawada. About 40 teams reached Vikas College and started practice. The college management provided accommodation to the teams.

Krishna University Sports Board secretary Dr N Srinivasa Rao said 1,000 players and 200 officials will participate in the tournament. The five-day tournament will be conducted on a knockout-cum-league basis. All the 60 teams were divided into four pools and the pool winners will reach the league. All the four teams will go to All India Inter-Zonal Handball Tournament for men which will be held from November 1 to 5 at Jabalpur.

He said that all the arrangements have been made for smooth conduct of South Zone Handball Tournament for men and added that Vikas BPED College principal Dr S Raju said that Minister for Human Resources Development Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Minister for Water Resources Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao and Gannavaram MLA Dr Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan will inaugurate the five-day tournament on Saturday.

Vikas Educational Institutions chairman N Narsi Reddy, secretary and correspondent N Satyanarayana Reddy, AP Handball Association general secretary N Venkateswara Rao, Vikas BPED College principal Dr S Raju were among those participated in the meeting.
