Police nabbed two cricket bookies and three punters and seized Rs  lakh along with a TV, a laptop, three ATM cards, a set-top box, six mobile phones, a blank cheque and two promissory notes from their possession.

Rajamahendravaram: Police nabbed two cricket bookies and three punters and seized Rs lakh along with a TV, a laptop, three ATM cards, a set-top box, six mobile phones, a blank cheque and two promissory notes from their possession.

The accused were produced in magistrate court which remanded them in for 14 days. Giving details of arrests at a press conference at police guest house here on Thursday, urban superintendent of police B Raja Kumari said that the bookies had been engaged in cricket betting for the last eight months by renting a house on the outskirts of Konthamur village.

The bookies, Bandaru Sudhakar of Bhimavaram and Gandepalli Srihari, paid an amount of Rs 50,000 to a betting organiser of Vizag and took the betting line connection. Along with the two bookies, punters CV Srinivas of Danavaipeta, T Manikanta of Morampudi and G Ramanjaneyulu of Srirampuram were also arrested.
