Kurnool: District Collector S Satyanarayana instructed the mandal and village-level officials to ensure the early completion of individual latrines during his visit to Karvena village in Atmakur mandal on Wednesday. He visited the village as part of ‘Palle Pilupu’ programme.
The Collector first visited the SC Colony and inspected the individual latrines which were under construction and asked the beneficiaries about the bills and the material being supplied to them.
The beneficiaries informed the District Collector that they were getting cement rings and bricks from Dornala village in Prakasam district but were facing problems in getting sand. Responding to the plea of the villagers, the Collector immediately directed the officials to procure sand from the Sunkesula reach.
As it is a very difficult task to bring the material from Dornala, he instructed them to manufacture at Karvena itself. The Collector after seeing the poor sanitation called the civic staff and ordered them to take up sanitation works.
He ordered them to first construct drainage with funds sanctioned under the 14th Finance Commission. As 1,800 individual latrines are yet to be constructed, he ordered them to take up the construction works without any further delay and complete them by the end of this month.
Later, Satyanarayana inspected the ZP School and inspected the attendance registers of students. APMIC Project Director Srinivasulu, Revenue Divisional Officer Hussain Saheb and others accompanied the District Collector.
