Vijayawada: The State government will start Fisheries University in West Godavari district under the public-private partnership mode soon, said Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Marketing C Adinarayana Reddy. 

The university will be established with the technological cooperation of Chinese Zeon University and Anand Group. The Minister took part in a meeting with the Chinese delegation here on Thursday.

Chinese Zeon University has strength of five lakh students and also initiated several research programmes, the Minister said. The university has agreed to provide technological cooperation and the students could also get teaching aid by directly participating in the university classrooms in China, the Minister said. 

Under the technological cooperation programme, the researchers and scholars would visit the university, he said and added that the teaching staff also would come to AP for exchanging the knowledge.      

He said the Chinese University could transport aqua products without ice or freezers for four hours. Similarly the breed of Koramenu fish variety is being developed by the university, he said.

The Anand Group and State government will have 51 per cent and 49 per cent share in the university. The officials of Zeon University, Anand group representative R Vishwanadha Raju, fisheries department additional director K Seetarama Raju and several officials were also present.
