MLAs and MLCs raised various issues at the meeting and urged the officers to redress the grievances of the tribals quickly.

Sujay stated that the government is according top priority to provide basic amenities in tribal sub-plan area. Providing pure drinking water, roads and medical facilities are main objectivities of the government, he said.

Around 450 roads are being laid in this area and they would help the tribals to transport their agricultural produce to nearby markets sans any hiccups. Twenty Primary Health Centres are upgraded into hospitals in order to provide complete medical assistance to the people, he pointed out.

MLA P Pushpa Srivani said that a school was constructed at Kurupam with Rs 2.45 crore but it’s not yet inaugurated. Additional toilets should be constructed at Gurukula School there. MLA of Salur P Rajanna Dora said that the wages of daily wage workers should be increased and he handed over a memorandum to Sujay in this regard.

Collector Vivek Yadav and project officer of ITDA explained how they are implementing the welfare and development programmes for the tribals here. Meanwhile, tribal students tried to intrude into the meeting hall to meet the Minister to express their agony regarding the poor amenities in hostels.

But the police did not allow them to meet the Minister and it led to a scuffle between the police and students. MLC D Jagadish, G Sandhya Rani and others were present.
