Tirupati: District Collector PS Pradyumna has called for new experiments by SV University Engineering faculty to reduce the cost of construction works. He reviewed with the faculty of Civil Engineering department of SVU Engineering College at VC’s Chamber here on Monday.
Expressing concern over the increasing cost of construction works, he said, `it is the time to focus the attention on reducing the costs by implementing new technologies.
Already, a programme for reducing the costs of agriculture and making the farmers to go for organic fertilisers is implemented. Suggestions of Agriculture and Veterinary Universities faculty are taken for the programme. The programme will be taken to the fields in the next 15 days.’
Similarly, to take Anganwadi centres forward, Yashoda programme was formulated with the help of SP Mahila Visvavidyalayam, who were giving training to Anganwadi workers in the district.
In this direction, Collector asked the engineers to come up with proposals under SVU brand name to reduce the cost of construction and reducing use of sand in the best interests of future generations.
“Unless we do this, sand will become a scarce commodity in the coming days”, Pradyumna said. In the construction of roads, buildings and toilets the SVU engineering department has to play an active role, he added. SVU V-C Prof A Damodaram and other faculty participated.
The Collector later visited Tiruchanoor Gosala in view of the recent incidents of deaths of several cows there. He said, Animal Husbandry department officials were asked to give a report on cow deaths and based on that report, if there are any lapses in the management of Gosala, action will be taken on those responsible.
Also, steps will be taken to handover the cows in Gosala to TTD or to a district level committee. Tahsildar P Rajagopal, BJP leader P Bhanuprakash Reddy and others accompanied the Collector.
