Bhim Singh, founder-president of National Panthers Party of Jammu and Kashmir, has demanded immediate abolition of Article 370 which discriminates the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir.
Vijayawada: Bhim Singh, founder-president of National Panthers Party of Jammu and Kashmir, has demanded immediate abolition of Article 370 which discriminates the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing the Bezwada Bar Association here on Monday, the angry young man of yesteryear, deplored the dilly-dallying attitude of the politicians in the rest of the country as well as in J&K, stating that they were not pro-active to abrogate the Article 370 which would pave the way to Jammu and Kashmir to become one of the states of Indian Republic.
He wondered whether he was really a citizen of India and if he was how come Indian Parliament could not make legislations for the state of J&K.
Asserting that he was a citizen of India, Bhim Singh said that the Constitution of India should be made applicable to J&K. “Jammu and Kashmir High Court is not the creation of the Indian Constitution,” he lamented.
Bhim Singh, who is also a senior advocate of the Supreme Court, said that though he was an advocate he was not entitled to fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution. Describing Article 370 as the mischief pulled on Indian people, he said that Article was supposed to last a few months but it was continuing even after 70 years.
He demanded Parliament to immediately pass a resolution abrogating the Article 370. He recalled that Junagarh Nawab did not sign the Instrument of Accession to join in the Indian Union and even Hyderabad Nizam Nawab also did not sign the Instrument of Accession.
However, both the regions along with 570 Princely States were made to join the Indian Union. But the Kashmir Maharaja sign the Instrument of Accession but the J&K is yet to join the Indian Union, he lamented.
