Rajamahendravaram: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed Adikavi Nannayya University (AKNU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Murru Mutyala Naidu to give clarification about the irregularities, manipulation of roaster points and violation of UGC and AICTE rules, in appointing assistant professors, associate professors and professors in various departments of the varsity for further course of action.
UGC under-secretary Satish Kumar has sent a letter to the VC on February 1 marking a copy to Human Rights Forum president and AP Bar Association executive member Muppalla Subba Rao.
Speaking to The Hans India, here on Wednesday advocate Mupalla Subba Rao said all the 12 faculty members were appointed against UGC and AICTE rules along with violating roaster norms.
Based on the complaint lodged against the irregularities to Chancellor and Governor E S L Narasimhan along with the then minister for higher education, the Congress government constituted a two-member committee with eminent professors.
After enquiry, the committee confirmed that all the 12 faculty members were not eligible to get jobs in the university and recommended for action against them. Later, the varsity constituted a five-member committee on its own and it also confirmed the two-member committee recommendations.
Again, the varsity appointed a former judge Justice Gopala Rao to give his opinion on the recommendations of government appointed two-member committee. After this, the university executive council set aside seven faculty members and punished them by stalling their increments for three-and-five years, which is an eye wash action against the faculty members, he added.
How can the university continue the faculty members since years for which the university paid crores of rupees to them towards salaries, Subba Rao asked? He demanded the varsity management to recover the entire amount paid towards salaries and sack them from their jobs.
