Speaking to The Hans India, District Youth Services, Setkur wing Chief Executive Officer (CEO) C Sudhakar Reddy said the state government has launched a novel mission “expedition to Kilimanjaro.”
Around 10 students across the district would be selected through a written and physical test. The same selection procedure is applicable in all 13 districts of AP. The candidates who qualified in the written test have to undergo running and long jump. Boys have to complete 100 meters in 16 seconds and 2.4 kilo meters in 10 minutes and have to jump 12 feet in three chances.
In case of girls, they have to complete 100 meters in 18 seconds and 2.4 kms in 13 minutes and have to finish 9 feet long jump in three attempts, he stated. Students who aspire to go for expedition should be in the age group of 21 to 35 years. While attending to written and physical tests at Outdoor stadium, the students have to carry medical fitness, qualification and community certificates, said the officer.
The selection list would be sent to head office situated at Vijayawada. The selected candidates would receive a call letter from the head office to attend another screening test at Vijayawada within a period of ten days. Whoever qualifies the screening test conducted at Vijayawada would be again sent to national level test bearing their expenses by the state government.
Around 13 students from 13 districts would be selected for the mission “expedition to Kilimanjaro,” he added. Chief Executive Officer Sudhakar Reddy appealed to students to utilise the opportunity being provided by the state government.
