Amaravati: YSRCP party leader and industrialist from Nellore district Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, popularly known as VPR, filed the nominations for Rajya Sabha as party nominee before the Election Returning Officer K Satyanarayana Rao at his chamber here on Wednesday.

He was accompanied by MLAs Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, Anil Kumar Yadav, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy and MLC Ummareddy Venkateswarlu and other party leaders.

VPR was denied Rajya Sabha ticket in 2016 by the YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy, but he continued in the party. After filing the nomination papers, VPR said, “If there is democracy in this state and Constitution is followed in true spirit, then I will win in this elections. Otherwise I will lose.”

He explained that he would work for the wellbeing of the poor in the state and strive for improvement of education sector. The YSRCP leader further explained though he has been continuing as industrialist, he gave priority to the education.

“I have good relations with former chief minister late YS Rajasekhar Reddy and his family for last 40 years and I knew very well about his father also,” VPR observed.

“Now Jagan has been working hard for the left over commitments of YSR and he has been doing a great job. Public response to the Praja Sankalpa Yatra is very impressive," he said.

In this coming general elections, the YSRCP under the leadership of Jagan will win unlike 2014 general elections, he hoped. He said Jagan was leader who abide by his words. "Jagan is a man of keeping his word,” he said.

The leaders who did not have integrity had left the party, ge saud referring to the leaders who had defected to TDP. VPR assured that he would work like a soldier for Jagan.
