Vijayawada/Ongole: Senior Congress leader and former Union minister J D Seelam asked the YSR Congress and Jana Sena parties to reveal their stand on BJP. He said the leaders of the two parties were not making comments against the BJP though it was hurting the sentiments of people of the State.
The Congress party was fighting for Special Category Status (SCS) without any compromise, he said and added that the issue was in the top priorities list of his party. He said the Congress would give SCS to the State, if it comes to power in the next elections. Now the people are aware of the facts after facing challenges from BJP, he said.
He criticised BJP national president Amit Shah for making false statements on funds allocation to the State. He said the Centre and State governments should release details of funds release immediately. He said the BJP government did not do justice to the State while ruling Telugu Desam and Opposition YSR Congress failed to mount pressure on the Centre for protecting interests of the State.
He said the Congress was demanding implementation of assurances made in AP Reorganisation Act which were made by the Centre at the time of State bifurcation. The Congress leader said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu lost control on the administrative system in the State. The YSR Congress was making plans to transfer whole vote bank of scheduled classes (SCs) to BJP, he alleged.
He asked the people to give fitting lesson to YSR Congress and Jana Sena. Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) official spokesperson Kolanukonda Sivaji and senior leader G Gangadhar were also present. Later, addressing the media in Ongole, Seelam said that Rahul Gandhi would become the next Prime Minister and will sign the first file sanctioning the Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh. Seelam participated at the review meeting held by the Congress party in Ongole on Sunday.
Seelam claimed that every political party is now following the congress party in the fight for special category status. He said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has just opened his eyes on the Special Category Status. When Congress Rajya Sabha MP KVP Ramachandra Rao introduced a private member bill on the SCS, the TDP and YSRCP didn’t support the bill, he alleged. Seelam blamed the TDP and BJP for the State being denied the Special Category Status.
