Visakhapatnam: The entire YVS Murthy Auditorium of Andhra University resounded with North Andhra people’s deep dissent over the governments’ gross negligence of the region. People representing all walks of life attended ‘Dasa Disa’ programme organised by the HMTV and raised their voice against the rulers and made it clear to the political parties that they were waiting for 2019 elections to teach a lesson to the BJP and the TDP.

The HMTV conducted its second edition of Dasa Disa programme, inviting people from various sections. The theme of the programme was ‘Why North Andhra Being Neglected – Even After Having Huge Natural Resources.”

The forum broadly discussed the positive and negative points of the region. Several speakers representing various political parties including the CPM, the CPI and the Congress, along with several people’s organisations, intellectuals, industrialists and senior citizens shared their views and suggestions.

When BJP leader Narendra Prakash Reddy said the Special Category Status to AP was a closed chapter, all participants expressed their anger and shouted slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and
the BJP. Iron mines and Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, delay in taking up Visakha-Chennai Coastal Corridor, unemployment, water projects for both drinking and irrigation, medical facilities, Uddanam kidney issue, higher education institutions and women and child welfare schemes were some of the topics discussed by the leaders and participants.

Andhra University Registrar V Umamaheswara Rao, Prof Lakshmi, Pro Ravi, Uttarandhra Abhivrudhi Vedika convener Aja Sharma, Uttarandhra Samithi president S Shiva Sankar, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant union leader Mantri Raja Sekhar, student leader Hemanth, Andhra Pradesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry president G Sambasiva Rao, CPM leader Ch RVK Kumar, CPI leader Pydiraju, City Congress Committee president Behara Bhaskara Rao, women wing president P Ramani Kumari, BJP leaders Ratnakumar, Narendra Prakash Reddy, Lok Satta unit president Bheesetti Babjee and several others spoke on various issues.

While concluding the debate, the entire audience unanimously said that the TDP and the BJP governments cheated the North Andhra people by not giving sops mentioned in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill – 2014. However, countering the attack from the people, the BJP leaders boycotted the debate.
