Hyderabad: Telugu Desam Party's Mahanadu to be held in Vijayawada a couple of days ahead of Nava Nirmana Deeksha on June 2 is unique from the earlier editions: It will blow the bugle for an all-out war with the BJP at the Centre for humiliating the state by denying special category status and launch a pincer attack on the regional parties of the YSRCP headed by YS Jaganmohan Reddy and Jana Sena led by actor-politician Pawan Kalyan.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu who will kickstart the event on Sunday will also set the course for formation of a national alliance of regional parties to throw the BJP out lock, stock and barrel to avenge the "injustice" done to Andhra Pradesh which had been dismembered from Telangana and thrown by the wayside by the erstwhile UPA in 2014.
The Nava Nirmana Deeksha, a weeklong programme beginning on June 2, will take forward the spirit of Mahanadu in fighting the enemies in the state and at Delhi. Naidu is expected to spell out the broad strategy of how he intends to prepare the people to revolt against the Centre and show Jagan his place for hobnobbing with the BJP to protect his own interest as he is neck deep in corruption cases and take on Pawan Kalyan for turning against him after riding shotgun with him for four long years.
The three-day Mahanadu will adopt as many as 24 resolutions, the most important of which are the injustice done to the state by the BJP government at the Centre and the TDP's role in national politics.
The other resolutions pertain to how south is being discriminated against with the centre loading the terms of reference of the 15th finance commission in favour of the states which are poor-performers at the cost of the south which has consistently been doing well on all economic parameters.
There will be a discussion on other national issues too including how the Centre was undermining the concept of cooperative federalism, imposition of GST and demonetisation of high value currency which had put the country's growth clock back.
TDP leaders said that there would be an exhaustive discussion on how the state began its journey on a bumpy road immediately after bifurcation in 2014, how it sought to overcome the imponderables in the path of growth without the help of the Centre and how it had grown despite the Centre registering double digit growth.
Mahanadu will make an introspection of how the BJP had betrayed the trust reposed in it by the people and would make an appeal to the people to take the party to the cleaners in the next general elections.
The soul-searching exercise would also include the long and bumpy drive with the BJP and how it had taken the state for a ride by offering special package in lieu of special category status which proved to be neither a fish nor a fowl nor a good red herring.
The party would also recall how its hopes of finding something for the state in the 2018-19 national budget were belied with no mention of the state anywhere which proved to be the tipping point for the TDP to decide enough was enough and began confronting the Centre.
The party would also make an assessment of the kind of “malicious” mind games that the YSRC and the BJP were playing to unnerve he state government and how Pawan Kalyan who rubbed shoulders with Naidu in 2014 had turned into his arch enemy for no apparent reason.
The party leaders say that this edition of Mahanadu remain as a poignant reminder of the type of opportunistic politics that the BJP has been playing to undermine the interests of the state.
