Amaravati: Telugu Desam Party has decided to embark on a two-pronged strategy to meet the challenges from opposition. The party coordination committee meeting that was held here on Tuesday decided to depend more on door-to-door campaign to highlight the achievements of the government to the people.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed all the party leaders, including MLAs to hit the road, go into the villages talk to people and showcase various developmental activities the government had taken up with special emphasis on how inter linking of Godavari and Krishna has helped farmers of Krishna and certain parts of the Rayalaseema region.
They have also been asked to make a detailed presentation on how the state has been able to attract major manufacturing units like Kia Motors and mobile manufacturers. They have also been asked to explain the steps the government had taken in construction of Amaravati city.
Naidu explained to them how the next six months are crucial for the party, how the rank and file should counter the “concerted attack by various forces, including the central government” against the TDP. He told them to ensure that there was no gap between the MLAs and their respective cadre.
The best way to do this is to organise Grama Darsini programme. He asked them to cover all the villages in next four months’ time and interact with the Sevamitras and Sadhikaramitras in all assembly constituencies. He said he would take the feedback from the cadre on the performance of the leaders once in 45 days.
The meeting also decided to hold the next Dharmaporata Deeksha, a public meeting, at Rajahmundry towards end of June. This will be followed by meetings in Rayalaseema, either in Kurnool or in Anantapur districts. The last meeting will be in Guntur or Vijayawada.
He directed the MPs to hold protests at ground level to highlight how the Centre had failed to implement the promises made in the AP State Re-organisation Act 2014, across the state.
This includes Special Category Status, Kadapa Steel factory, Vizag Railway Zone, Petro Complex in Godavari districts and Duggarajapatnam port. He told them that the party leaders should gear up for hectic party activity and MPs should organise meetings and take up activities to be with the people at the ground level.
He asked them to organsie some public meetings and protests in New Delhi demanding Special Status and implementation of other assurances as per the Reorganisation Act.
The Chief Minister said he himself would participate in at least 75 party programmes within the next six months and would also interact with the students in all the universities in the state. The TDP will also hold the concluding meeting of Dalita Tejam meeting in Nellore district on June 23.
Reminding the leaders that they should not think that he only chides them, Naidu said that they would soon be seeing him cracking the whip if the leaders do not follow the success mantra that has been evolved in the Tuesday’s meeting.
