Visakhapatnam: Principal Commissioner of Income Tax Ch Omkareshwar inaugurated the Inter-Departmental Invitational Hockey Tournament here at the Port Outdoor Stadium on Tuesday. The tournament is being conducted by Cocanada Coastal Sports Club, Kakinada.
Speaking on the occasion, Omkareshwar apprised the officials of Sports Club for their initiative for promoting the hockey in the coastal districts. It’s high time that organisations should come forward to promote hockey by conducting tournaments for children.
Teams from AP Police, State Bank of India, Telangana Police, Income Tax, Visakhapatnam Port Trust are participating in the tournament. In the inaugural match, State Bank of India drew with Income Tax Department by 1–1.
Manikantha of State Bank of India has started the lead and dominated the game. Later, Kiran of Income Tax equalised the game. Surender Singh of State Bank of India and Ravichandra Prasad of Income Tax were adjudged as best players of the match.
