Vijayawada: The city police registered a case against BJP leader Laka Vengala Rao Yadav when he tried to hit a constable with his car in a bid to escape, when the police tried to impose a fine on him for wrong parking.

It may be recalled that he contested as BJP Vijayawada MP candidate in 2009 elections. According to police, he parked his car at All India Radio Station where some other vehicles were also parked on Mahatma Gandhi Road on Saturday night.

The traffic police reached there and tried to impose the fine on the vehicle and also tried to take away the vehicle with the help of a towing van. Hence, he started argument with the police in the process, he rushed to his car and started to drive away from the spot. When a police constable tried to stop him, he tried to hit him to clear the way to leave the spot. The incident was recorded in CCTV.
