Guntur: A fire broke out in nine timber depots at Old Byaran Nagar behind RTC Bus Stand in Chilakalauripet in the early hours of Tuesday. The traders kept stock of timber in nine shops which caught fire at 1.30 am. The fire department officials pressed four fire engines into service and doused the fire.
According to district fire officer V Srinivasa Reddy, as soon as they received information, they rushed to the spot and pressed for fire engines into service and doused the fire. The old timber stock was kept in nine shops was reduced to ashes.
Electricity short circuit might have led to fire accident, he said. They noticed electrical wire fell on the road near the shops.
