Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will be arriving in the city on Thursday and will participate in various programmes. The Chief Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones in the city. The works are being taken up by the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) to the tune of Rs 391.72 crore as a part of Smart City programme.

According to Commissioner of GVMC M Hari Narayanan, the Chief Minister will inaugurate the 2 MW solar floating power plant on Mudasarlova reservoir, which was constructed at a cost of Rs 11.36 crore and also inaugurates the standalone solar street lighting from Coastal Battery to The Park Hotel Junction on the beach front, which was taken up at a cost of Rs 8.72 crore.

The Chief Minister also inaugurate the newly developed park for children on the beach. The Chief Minister will lay foundation stone for the smart streets (20 beautification of streets to a total length of 19.43 km) taken up at a cost of Rs 164 crore.

The Chief Minister will lay foundation stone for the construction of Sports Arena at MVP Colony at a cost of s 25.50 crore, the Commissioner said.
The GVMC also taken up 24/7 water supply at a cost of Rs 86.40 crore and the Chief Minister will lay the foundation stone for the water supply scheme, Hari Narayanan said.

Meanwhile, Collector Pravin Kumar, Commissioner of Police Mahesh Chandra Laddah and other senior officials visited the Andhra University campus and inspected the arrangements for the Jnana Bheri programme. The Chief Minister will participate in the programme after lunch. As many as 60 stalls were erected at the venue.

The officials inspected the meals and drinking water arrangements for 20,000 students who are coming from across the state. The Commissioner of Police reviewed the security arrangements. Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu is arriving in the city on August 24. He will participate in various programmes at VUDA Children’s Theatre and inaugurate KIMS Icon Hospital.

The Vice-Chancellors of various universities, Chairman of the AP High Education Council Vijayaraju, Principal Secretary (School Education) Adityanath Das and other senior officials arrived in the city and reviewed the arrangements for the Jnana Bheri programme.
