Guntur: BJP national spokespersonand MP G V L Narasimha Rao’s car has knocked down two women at Kolanukonda village in Tadepalli mandal in Guntur district on Friday.
According to Tadepalli police, in the incident one woman died on the spot and the victim has been identified as T Anjamma,45 and another woman Thota Sarojanamma was seriously injured. Police said the incident took place when the MP was heading to Vijayawada city from Ongole. The mishap took place when the two women crossing the Chennai-Kolkata highway.
The plants on the road divider blocked the view and the women without noticing the MP’s car crossing the road. The two women were agriculture workers. The seriously injured Thota Sarojanamma was shifted to a private hospital.
After the incident, the MP got down from the car and boarded another car to reach Vijayawada. Tadepalli police registered a case. Meanwhile Guntur Urban SP Ch Vijaya Rao said, "We have booked a case under the Section 304 (A) of IPC and investigating the details of persons travelling in the car.”
