Srisailam: Over 1,500 housewives participated in the mass Varalakshmi Vratam held in Srisailam temple on Friday. The temple conducted the event free of cost and provided all puja material free to the participants.
Prior to the puja, Lord Ganesh was invoked. All participants installed Kalasam and performed the puja. The temple priests read out the story associated with the puja to conclude the event.
Kailasa Kankanaalu sacred thread was given to the participants. A copy of Srisaila Prabha was given to them free of cost. Temple Executive Officer Sriramachandra Murthy has said that the event- celebrated as per the Vedic traditions-has a lot of significance. Later, the participants were given a free darshan through Rs 500 queue line.
