Tirupati: Devotional fervour reached its zenith on Friday on the auspicious occasion of Varalakshmi Vratam organised by TTD in Astana Mandapam of Tiruchanur Padmavathi Ammavari temple near here.

The religious event lasted for over two hours between 10 am and 12 noon. Babu Swamy rendered the Sahasranamam of Sri Padmavathi Devi while Srinivasacharyulu narrated the importance of observing Varalakshmi Vratam as taught by Lord Shiva to His spouse Parvathi Devi.

The two-hour long ritual came to an end with Maha Mangalaharathi. The stage was colourfully decked with varieties of flowers and illuminated with electrical lights.

The temple witnessed a large turnout of women devotees, who thronged the shrine to have a glimpse of the Goddess on the auspicious occasion, resulting in the devotees to wait for several hours for darshan.

TTD made elaborate arrangements to cope with the devotees’ rush. In the evening, the deity was taken in a procession on a tastefully decorated Golden Chariot (Swarna Ratham) delighting the devotees gathered in large number to witness the religious event.

TTD EO Anil Kumar Singhal, Tirupati JEO P Bhaskar, Tirumala JEO KS Srinivasa Raju, Special Grade Deputy EO Munirathnam Reddy, VGO Ashok Kumar Goud and other officials, large number of devotees took part in the celestial fete.
