Visakhapatnam: The 23- year-old GITAM student, who went missing was found dead near Bheemili here on Sunday. This incident once again put the spotlight on cases of missing youth in the city. According to sources, the deceased was identified as P Ramu, a B Tech final year student of GITAM, who went missing since August 23, and was found dead on Sunday, while the police suspect that it was a murder and the investigation is on.

It may be recalled that the city police almost closed the missing case of Sadhana Pandey, a 22-year-old B Tech (Civil) student and daughter of naval official Harishchandra Pandey, who went missing from the city in 2012. The city police had failed to solve the missing case of Sadhana Pandey.

Speaking to The Hans India over phone, Harishchandra Pandey, father of the girl, said that he had approached the district court and filed habeas corpus petition but in vain as the city police could not trace his daughter.

He said that he will meet the new city police chief Mahesh Chandra Laddha to exert pressure on him to intensify the search for his missing daughter. The victim's father Harishchandra Pandey said that they will visit Visakhapatnam in September and make fresh appeal to the new police chief.

He hoped that his daughter is still alive but hidden by the lone suspect in the case and his former colleague Ranbir Singh Rawat. Expressing that their family was depressed with Sadhana’s disappearance and not able to focus on anything, he added. Admitting that the missing case of Satyanarayana was not solved, ACP (Dwaraka Zone) K Ramachandra Rao said that police are still searching for some clues to trace Sadhana, he added.

In another case, 13-year-old girl Srisailapu Himabindu, a Class VIII student of a private school at Chodavaram in Visakhapatnam district, was kidnapped by her teacher K Tirupati Rao on May 26, 2015.

Though the case was being investigated by the police as well as the (CB-CID), they are clueless about whereabouts of the girl. Speaking to The Hans India, District Superintendent of Police Rahul Dev Sharma said that due to lack of proper information from parents and locals, the missing case of Chodavaram girl was delayed but soon the case will be solved.
