Vijayawada: JSV Prasad, Special Chief Secretary of state government said here on Thursday that in the changed scenario, training the trainers is very important in skill development. He was addressing the workshop on skill development in which the trainers would be trained to strive for the skill development of youth in the rural areas.

Prasad said that Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) has 280 partners across the state to provide skills to the youth. ``It is appreciable to note Tribal youth are being given skill development programme on par with people in plains,” he said.

The special chief secretary underlined the importance of channelising youth force to achieve development of the country. “They should be armed with skills to cater to the needs of the industry,” he averred.

Sunita Sanghi, Director General of National Skill Development Agency (NSDA) said that the NSDA has been striving to provide various skills to the youth to enable them to get employment opportunities. She said that the NSDA is also giving certificates to the trained youth in various skills to make them eligible to secure employment in various industries.

She recalled that the NSDA is providing training to the youth through 510 higher learning institutes. LV Subrahmanyam, Special Chief Secretary of the state government said that it was good that everyone has been widely discussing skill development all over the country. He said that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s pet programme ‘Yuva Nestam’ would help the unemployed youth to a greater extent.

Earlier, K Sambasiva Rao, Managing Director and CEO of APSSDC elaborated the skill development programmes undertaken by the corporation. He said that a target has been set to train 8 lakh youth through APSSDC. Engineering and Degree students are being given skill development training through various industries, he added.
