VLC organises hair donation drive in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: Vijayawada Ladies Circle 52 (VLC-53) organised hair donation drive in association with Touch Saloon led by Dr Madhavi Majeti here on Monday. Addressing the media, VLC chairperson Sindhura Nekkanti noted that the plight of cancer patients ignited the thought in them that they should contribute for the cause and took up the initiative of the Cherian Foundation, which donate hair for making wigs with a campaign ‘Gift Hair Gift Confidence’.
She said that the incidents of cancer cases being reported are increasing rapidly and so are the problems associated with it like loss of hair during chemotherapy. To address the problem, they have taken up this initiative. She said that five donors had come forward to donate their hair including Vamsi Priya Pantham, past chairperson of VLC and her daughter Baby Sanvi and other three donors from Touch Saloon.
She said that this year being the silver jubilee year of VLC, the circle had targeted to execute 25 community service activities which includes community service activities, school projects benefiting children which was the main motto, she added.
