Vijayawada: Ganesh Navaratri celebrations ended on a grand note where 200 idols were immersed in Krishna river on Sunday. The officials have made elaborate arrangements installing tall cranes for immersion of idols downstream of the Prakasam Barrage. Idols were brought to the river from various parts of city in a procession.

The organisers took processions with drums, music and dances from across the city and reached the Prakasam Barrage. Irrigation, police, revenue and other departments worked in co-ordination to prevent any untoward incident. Immersion activity may continue till early hours of Monday.

More than 90 per cent of idols, which were installed in the pandals in the city, immersed on Sunday, said officials supervising the immersion near the Prakasam Barrage.
