Hyderabad: The Southwest Monsoon was weak in Andhra Pradesh during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Sunday. The Met department bulletin said isolated rain occurred in the coastal and Rayalaseema regions of the State.
The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) were: Chodavaram (Visakhapatnam), Machilipatnam (Krishna) 4 each, Srungavarapukota (Vizianagaram) 3, Tekkali (Srikakulam), Tanuku, Maruteru (both in West Godavari), Sompeta (Srikakulam) and Amalapuram (East Godavari) 2 each.
There was 1 cm rain each in Mandasa, Pathapatnam, Ichchapuram (all in Srikakulam), Tuni (East Godavari) Tiruvuru, Kaikalur (both in Krishna), Tadepalligudem (West Godavari) and Santhipuram (Chittoor).
The forecast said light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at isolated/a few places in the State from September 24 to 27. No large change during the period between September 28 and 30.
According to the bulletin, the well marked low pressure area over east Rajasthan and adjoining west Madhya Pradesh now lies over southeast Rajasthan and its neighbourhood.
The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above the mean sea level. The cyclonic circulation over the Gulf of Siam and its neighbourhood now lies over the Malay Peninsula and adjoining south Andaman sea, extending up to 4.5 km above the mean sea level.
