Nellore: Home Minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa said that they would be opening exclusive cybercrime police stations in the state for handling the white-collar crimes. He participated in various programmes in Nellore district on Thursday.

He said these stations will initially be started in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati and will later be extended to other cities in a phased manner. After bifurcation, the state government planned 73 model police stations and 40 have been completed so far and the rest are in various stages, he said. The Home Minister said they would recruit 2,000 police personnel shortly.

He participated in passing out parade by the first batch warders trained here and said prisoners were being provided livelihood training for their peaceful life after release. Tailoring, carpentry, welding, and other occupations will give them employment, he said and appealed to the warders to be honest and sincere in their duties. He was happy to know that 25 members among the trained were women.

Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana said the state government had promoted model police stations just for making them people-friendly. He said the country is having police person for every 769 people whereas countries like Singapore are having one police station for every 150 people.

The Home Minister formally inaugurated new police station buildings at Vidavalur, Nellore Rural and Dargamitta police stations on Thursday. Director General of Police RP Thakur said that they would be giving promotions to constables, head constables and sub-inspectors by the end of this month. Local legislators P Srinivasulu Reddy, IG of Police KVV Gopala Rao, VC&MD of AP Police Housing Corporation PV Sunil Kumar, and In-charge SP Satya Yesubabu were present.
