Nellore: AP Rythu Sangham on Saturday opposed the brand hiring of Vijaya dairy to a private firm. In the roundtable meet held here, the leaders criticised the state government for planning to close the unit authorising others to utilise the brand.
Sangham leader P Sriramulu said that it is an inappropriate decision to offer brand reputation to a private dairy. Kovur Cooperative Sugars, Ceramic Factory in Gudur, and Loco Shed at Bitragunta were closed in the district, he recalled.
He blamed the state government for trying to wind up dairy in such a manner and requested the ministers, politicos and others from the district to save those units in the district for protecting livelihood of hundreds of workers.
He asked them to be part of the protest for protecting the dairy irrespective of party affiliations.
AP Vyavasaya Karmika Sangham district secretary J Venkama Raju said the move would affect 40,000 families in the district and added they would extend solidarity to the movement.
