AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has pledged himself to launch a nationwide campaign to educate people about the truth through media on the misgovernance and malafide intentions of the BJPled NDA government and its political vilification campaign against opponents
New Delhi: AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has pledged himself to "launch a nationwide campaign to educate people about the truth through media on the mis-governance and mala-fide intentions of the BJP-led NDA government and its political vilification campaign against opponents.
Speaking to the media here on Saturday, Naidu said: "Today I have come here to inform the nation about what's happening in the country. Especially in Andhra Pradesh. The BJP has promised a vibrant democracy, strong and healthy competition between parties, strong states, co-operative federalism and employment. They promised 'achche din'. I have one straight question.
The elections are around the corner again. When will we get the promised 'achche din'? The BJP has destroyed the system. Misused power to the core." "They say I'm not matured? I became a CM in 1995. You (PM Modi) became a CM much later. I implemented a lot of economic reforms for the first time in the country," said Naidu. He said the present government has demolished all systems and threatened anyone who went against them.
He said the government was using the CBI, Income Tax department, Enforcement Directorate and other institutions for its own interests.
He said: "I will spread awareness about the undemocratic governance of the BJP and expose its misdeeds across the country through every forum from Sunday. It is my responsibility as one of the senior-most politicians of the country."
Citing the failures as well as deliberate moves of the Centre in stymying Opposition leaders and parties, he said: “Every democratic institution is in danger. This is the worst-ever situation. They (BJP) are attacking all political opponents and finishing them off. A great distress stares in the face of every section of society. It is time something is done to prevent this assault on fundamental rights of the people and seek a course correction in governance."
Referring to the raids and cases against Opposition leaders in various states, Naidu said "the Centre is sending corrupt officials from others states to raid our leaders and industrialists. It is an attack on Andhra Pradesh. Our honest officials are ignored. It is planning to impose Central Secretariats in states and why? Why is the Governor interfering in my administration by ringing up the DGP directly to find out what happened to the Opposition leader in my state? Why did they raid Vizag industrialists when FinTech and a cricket match were going on in the city?"
The AP CM said working for a broader coalition against the BJP was a political compulsion now and his joining hands with the Congress in Telangana was a democratic compulsion, too. "We fought the Congress which bifurcated the state unscientifically. But the BJP did not even implement the bifurcation Act passed by the Congress and give us Special Category Status. In that sense, the Congress is better. And in my fight against the BJP, if the Congress extends its support, what is wrong in it?" he asked. On leading the Third Front, Naidu said: "Several experiments had taken place in the country in the past. Five such coalitions were there with or without national parties.
It is not feasible to have a coalition without a major national political party in it. He accused the BJP-led NDA of playing dirty games to make states squabble and destroy them to take control of the politics there and warned it that "he was not the one to bow to the pressure", asking the BJP leadership to explain its corruption in Rafael and CBI muddle.
