Kakinada: The Kakinada central crime station (CCS) police arrested two persons of Maharashtra origin and recovered 743 grams of gold worth of Rs 24 lakh on Sunday.

Disclosing the details of arrest of accused Prashant Jadhav and Sushant Jadhav, East Godavari SP Vishal Gunni on Monday said that the duo had worked as employees in a gold jewellery making shop at gold market centre in Kakinada. They resorted to theft in the shop where they worked earlier.

The SP said that the two had left the employment earlier in September this year and left for their home place in Maharashtra.

They returned on October 9 and resorted to theft by using a duplicate key they had kept with them without the knowledge of the shop owner. They kept the stolen property at a secret place and left for their home place.

The CCS police started investigation basing on technical grounds. The two accused came to Kakinada on Sunday to pick up the stolen property. The CCS police who got clues of their involvement arrested them and recovered the stolen property.

The SP complemented CCS DSP Pallapu Raju and his team for recovering the gold.
