Guntur: CPI State secretary K Ramakrishna said that they will hold meetings in all universities in the State from November 12 to exert pressure on the BJP-led NDA government to give Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh and keep its election promise. Addressing a press conference at the CPI office here on Sunday, he said that they will conduct meetings from Srikakulam to Hindupur in all universities in the State.

He called that the BJP promised SCS for 10 years to the State and now it has denied the SCS to the State. Ramakrishna suggested to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to conduct Dharma Porata Deekshas in Delhi. He also found fault with Naidu for not extending his sympathies to Opposition leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy who was attacked at Visakhapatnam airport. Ramakrishna however said that the CPI would extend its support to the anti-BJP front at the national level.

He said that the CPI, CPM leaders will tour Rayalaseema districts which were neglected by successive governments in the State. Guntur district CPI secretary Jangala Ajay Kumar was also present at the press conference.
