Vijayawada: The State BJP staged a protest demonstration at the Collectorate in the district headquarters of Machilipatnam on Saturday demanding the government to stop land acquisition for construction of port and other purposes. BJP state president Kanna Lakshminarayana said that the government was looting the lands from people for distributing the same to corporate companies. He said that there is no need to take huge chunks of lands for the construction of port.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his Cabinet colleagues were grabbing land from poorer sections, but the government is not serious about port construction. He stated that the TDP created hurdles for the construction of the port when it was in opposition. He wondered as to how the people would believe the TDP government on port construction. Former MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao and several leaders were present.
