Visakhapatnam: Political secretary and Electoral Observer Nagulapalli Srikanth has directed the EROs and AROs to clear the pending objections and claims by November-end.

Reviewing over the preparation of electoral lists in the district here on Saturday, he said the EROs and AROs should clear the claims and objections received from both online and offline also.

According to the revised schedule from the Election Commission of India (EC), the electoral officials have to complete the task before January 3 as the ECI has directed to publish final electoral list by January 4, 2019.

He said the ECI has received 92,281 objections and claims from the voters in the district and the electoral officials have to clear them before January 3.

The officials have to check 2,00,767 voters’ identification issues related to door numbers, picture of voter, migrations and other issues.

He directed the officials to verify the electoral lists Assembly constituency wise and if they found any big number of deletions or addition of voters, the EROs and AROs must re-check the lists twice.

The ECI has already provided software including ‘error detecting’ to identify difference in images and gender and other issues.

District in-charge collector G Srujana said the administration has identified some problems in connection with voters lists and directed the officials to conduct a detailed enquiry and clear the doubts within 10 days.

Assistant Collector Dinesh Kumar, Joint Collector-2 Dr A Siri, Special Deputy Collector Govindarajulu and other senior officials were present.
