Tirupati: The newly appointed Vedic University Vice-Chancellor (V-C) Prof Sannidhanam Sudarsana Sarma took charge here on Tuesday. Sarma, who worked as the first V-C of the TTD run Vedic University established in 2006 was again appointed as V-C for a term of three years.

Speaking to media after taking charge, new V-C said that his priority is to introduce new courses in the university and to work in close coordination with the Veda Patasalas (Vedic School) offering traditional Veda courses which in turn help the Vedic varsity get these students for higher studies to nourish the only Vedic university in the country.

Sarma said that he would strive to bring to light the scientific aspects in Vedas for the benefit of the mankind and the hidden messages in the Vedas for the use of common public. Besides, efforts would be made to strength Veda, Agama, Pourohityam, Vedanga and Veda Bhashya departments in the university and also measures for the welfare of students and teachers.

Earlier, Sarma was welcomed with traditional poornakumbham amidst chanting of hymns from Vedas by the teachers and students. Vedic University Registrar P Viswanath, Deans G Subramanya Sharma, A Srinivas Charyulu, faculty members and officials were present. Sarma has working as professor of Sahitya at Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth (RSVP) prior to new appointment.
