Vijayawada: Over 10 children were selected for Kia Ball Kids for Australian Open 2019 which include five children from Delhi and one each from Mumbai, Chandigarh, Haryana, Hyderabad and Lucknow. Four girls among them who have been selected to represent India as the Official Kia Ball Kids for Australian Open 2019, according to Kookhyun Shim, MD, CEO of Kia Motors India in a statement.

Indian Tennis star and Davis Cup captain and multiple Grand Slam winner Mahesh Bhupati stated that it was a huge boost for Indian tennis. Bhupathi had played a key role in shortlisting 100 boys and girls across the country, before taking up the mantle of mentoring them. He is going to train them now to carry out the duties of Ball Kids while enjoying a Grand Slam event among the world’s top tennis players.

The selected ball kids are Akshit Choudhary, Sonam Dewan, Ribhav Ojha, Swati Malhotra and Ananya Singh from Delhi. Ankit Pillania, Jennika Jaison, Sarthak Gandhi, M Varshith Kumar Reddy and Naman Mehta are the others to complete the list of 10 who have been picked to attend the first grand slam of year as the ball kids.

Kia Motors, the world’s 8th largest automaker, is a long-standing partner of year’s first Grand Slam tennis tournament. It also drives Kia Australian Open Ball Kids International Programme, said Kookhyun Shim.
